Tessellations

The well-known artist, M. C. Escher, used tessellating tiles in many of his works of art. Come learn this fun, unique way to design fabric, wallpaper, and tile. This session will show you demonstrations and allow you to draw using your own imagination, creating something as simple or complex as you would like. **The first two weeks are one class and the second two weeks are another class, so you may sign up for one or both classes.

Have you ever wanted to make a special toy, like a decorative, collectible doll? Now you can! Create an Elizabethan Renaissance Cinderella rag doll, along with a ball gown to complete the transformation. You will use many materials such as muslin, crimped gauze, and fine cotton brocade, as well as flowers and ribbons for decoration.

Self-Portraits

Want a way to express your thoughts and feelings? In this course you will be introduced to the contour drawing technique, which involves drawing without looking at the paper - with the subject being you! This type of introspective drawing requires no prior artistic skills, and you will have a self-portrait completed by the end of the session.
